Road to Lausanne

Road to Lausanne

A 100% female cycling adventure towards the Grand Départ

On August 1, 2026, the Tour de France Femmes with Zwift will start from Switzerland for the very first time. Geneva, Aigle and Lausanne will be at the heart of this historic moment for women’s cycling.

Road to Lausanne is a project that symbolically connects these three cities to celebrate the Grand Départ.

Over three days, around ten women of different ages and backgrounds will come together to ride the roads of French-speaking Switzerland. Together, they will travel through the regions that will host the Tour de France Femmes, discovering the landscapes, roads and cycling culture.

Road to Lausanne is built around three key ideas:

1. Highlight women’s cycling

Road cycling is not limited to pro racers. In this project, every participant has her place. The stronger riders support the weaker, the group rides as a genuine team, and what once seemed impossible suddenly becomes accessible.

One of the strengths of women’s cycling is its collective spirit: no competition, no negative comparisons… we ride together, support each other and share the effort.

Crossing French-speaking Switzerland by bike becomes an inspiring adventure…and one that is within reach for many women.

2. Showcase the Romandie women’s cycling community

Most of the participants will come from the local cycling community.

Riding together towards Lausanne, they will share what makes cycling here so special: the diversity of the routes, the beauty of the landscapes and the strong community spirit among women cyclists in French-speaking Switzerland.

Each participant will also act as an ambassador, engaging with the public, the media and other riders.

3. Bringing the regions along the route to life

Throughout the adventure, a media team will accompany the group to document the project and tell the story of the journey.

The resulting content will highlight the regions visited, build excitement in the lead-up to the Grand Départ, share human stories around women’s cycling, and create a lasting legacy for cycling in French-speaking Switzerland.
